Specialist Consultations
We may arrange specialist consultations based on our Doctor’s referral or on your request.
Specialist consultations may cost much more especially if they are urgent and done out of the usual daytime business hours.
However, our Urgent Care Doctors are competent in many conditions, which people tend to believe they need specialist care. Such examples are:
– ENT. Ear infections, wax. We can do examinations with otoscope and flush the ear canal.
– Cardiology. Simple cases of Heart Failure, Fluid Retention may not need specialist care. We can perform rapid Troponin-I test to rule out a heart attack. We also have EKG and cardiac ultrasound in our Vienna Office.
– Dermatology. Common rashes, Eczema, Urticaria, Shingles are simple problems for us. In case of suspected Skin Infections we can perform rapid CRP testing to optimize antibiotic use.
– Ophthalmology. Red eyes, infections. We can do examinations with ophthalmoscope and perform fluorescent dye testing for herpes, if needed.
– Orthopedics. We need these surgeons only if an operation is contemplated. For Back Pains, we can give intravenous, intramuscular and Trigger point injections to treat inflammation and muscle spasms. We have the capacity to perform X-rays and MRI scans.
– Pulmonary. Our Urgent Care Doctors routinely handle acute breathing problems, wheezing, shortness of breath, asthma exacerbation. We can perform rapid D-dimer test to exclude a deep vein thrombosis and embolism or CRP test to confirm bacterial Pneumonia.
– Trauma, injuries, wounds, sprains, broken bones. We have X-ray facility and can also do CT scan if needed. We can close wounds with tissue glue, Elastic Steri-Strips® or stitches. We have special non-sticky bandages, elastic compression wraps and immobilization devices, splints.
– Urology. For Urinary tract infections we can do rapid urine dipstick test and prescribe or supply guideline recommended antibiotics. We may do urine cultures and antibiotic sensitivities for recurrent cases. Kidney Stone attacks we can handle with intravenous injections for spasms, pain, and vomiting associated with the blockage in the urinary tract. We need Urology Surgeons only if stone crushing or an operation is contemplated.
Of course, if the patient’s condition is more complicated and is beyond the competence of our Urgent Care Doctors, then we advise and organize the necessary Specialist Care.
